What do I need to do to become a referee?

First, you will need to complete the online modules. Once completed you will need to take part in a Level 4 Referee Course which includes on-field and off-field components. You can find a referee course via this link.

When is training?

Training will be held every Tuesday at Hammondville Oval, Moorebank NSW starting at 7 PM. Training runs for 1.5 hours.

Do I need to attend training?

We understand everybody has commitments that make it difficult to come to training. However, it is evident that those who attend training sessions have benefitted from continued education. These referees have also progressed into some of the best referees in the country. We ask that every referee attend a minimum of 3 training sessions a season.

You must have attended at least one training session in order to be considered for the Grand finals.

What are the match fees?

Our Match Fees are listed under the “Match Fees” tab on our website. Click here to explore our remuneration structures.

For non-branch matches, payments will be made in cash, as per FNSW circulars.

How do I get paid?

Payments are made by direct debit into your nominated bank account.
After you register, please email the following details to accounts@sdsfa.com including your:

Payments are processed every Friday.

What happens when it rains?

All fields are inspected by 7.30 AM on game days and changes will be posted after 8 AM. A message will be sent out on Team App. If no message is sent then the games are still on and you must turn up as appointed.

What is the Team App?

The Team App is how SDSRI communicates with you. All communication regarding events, last-minute games, and reminders will be made available through the use of this application. Referees are required to download and sign up by selecting “Southern Districts Soccer Referees” as the related club.

What is DRIBL?

DRIBL is our match appointment application and can also be downloaded through the App Store or Google Play Store. All appointments are sent via DRIBL, meaning that all referees are required to download this app as well so they can input their availability in advance and get given the appropriate games.

Who do I contact regarding game appointments?

Match appointments are done online in DRIBL. Appointments are published by COB on Thursdays. If you have any questions regarding this Monday to Friday 8 am to 5.30 pm please contact the SDSFA office (Shauntae) on 02 9892 1962. Saturday and Sunday please contact the Referee Manager on 0411 161 080.

Who do I contact regarding match payment discrepancies?

Questions about pay can only be made Monday to Friday 8 am to 5.30 pm.

Can I comment on social media regarding my games or games covered by Southern Districts?

Yes, referees are able to comment on social media about their games. However, they are not allowed to comment on the results of a game, sanctions or send-offs, or the performance of other referees or Southern Districts.

I had an issue in my game, how do I lodge an incident report?

If you encounter any issues while refereeing for Southern Districts, there is an escalation process you must go through:

Step One:

If this matter is related to your safety, Southern Districts encourages you to remove yourself or your team member from the situation and approach the ground martial if appropriate to do so.

Step Two:

Contact the Referee Manager or Delegate and advise them of your situation.

Step Three:

Lodge an incident report on DRIBL.

Do I get watched on games?

We value a referee’s ongoing development, therefore, we take great effort in continuing to develop referees of all classes to be the very best referees they can be. Experienced Coaches and Assessors may be periodically present at your games. If a Coach or Assessor should come to one of your games, you will be notified in advance through DRIBL.

Am I qualified for this game?

If you’ve received your accreditation as a referee you are qualified for the games you’ve been assigned. SDSRI has complete faith in the referees we train and if you have any questions about a game you’ve been assigned please let us know.

How can I pay my affiliation?

If you haven’t already paid your affiliation online in PlayFootball, payment can be made as follows.

• Direct Debit into the branch bank account.

• Completing a deduction form, forms are available from the treasurer. Payments will be deducted from your match fees until payment in full. Email us treasurer@sdsri.com for more info.

• In person to the Treasurer, who will issue you a receipt for payment.

NOTE: Affiliations will not be approved until one of the options above have been completed.
